Gutter Cleaning Cost in Marietta: What Drives the Price

Gutter cleaning in the Marietta area generally runs $100 to $250 for a standard single-storey home, and $150 to $350 for a two-storey. That is a wide band, and homeowners reasonably want to know why one house is at the bottom of it and another at the top.

Six things move the number. None of them are negotiable by arguing, but all of them are worth understanding before you compare quotes.

1. Linear footage, not square footage

Gutter work is priced by the length of gutter, not the size of the house. A long, low ranch can carry more linear feet than a compact two-storey, and the ranch is the bigger job even though it is the smaller house. If a quote arrives without anyone having established your footage, it is an estimate of a typical house rather than of yours.

2. Height and how many storeys

The single biggest driver, and the reason the two-storey band starts where the single-storey band ends. Height changes the ladder work, the setup time per section, and the safety requirements. Three storeys, or a walkout basement that makes one elevation effectively three, moves a job outside the standard band entirely.

3. Access and roof pitch

A crew that can set a ladder on level ground the whole way round works quickly. Landscaping beds, a deck, a screened porch, a steep slope on one elevation, or a pitch too severe to work from the roof all add time. This is the factor most likely to surprise a homeowner, because the house looks straightforward from the street.

4. Debris load and time since the last clean

A gutter cleaned six months ago is a different job from one last cleaned in 2023. Compacted sediment, the sludge that pine pollen and shingle grit form together, and anything that has begun growing all take longer to remove than loose leaves. Heavy pine or hardwood canopy pushes any Cobb County home toward the top of its band for this reason alone.

5. Whether guards are fitted

Guards cut how often you need cleaning, but they can add to the cost of the cleaning you do need, because sections have to come off and go back on properly. A cheap quote on a guarded house sometimes means the crew intends to rinse the top surface and not look underneath.

6. Whether the downspouts are actually cleared

This is the one that separates quotes more than any other, and it is invisible on the invoice. A gutter can be spotless and still overflow if the leader is blocked halfway down. Clearing and proving each downspout runs takes time, and it is the first thing dropped to hit a low price.

What a suspiciously cheap quote usually leaves out

  • Downspouts checked at the top rather than proven clear along their length.
  • Debris left on the roof or in the beds rather than removed from site.
  • No look at hangers, seams or pitch while the crew is up there - the free part of the visit that tells you what next year holds.
  • No insurance you have actually seen. On two-storey ladder work this is not a formality.

The useful question is not "what do you charge" but "what does that include, and will you tell me what you found". A crew that reports back on a sagging section or a joint starting to weep has given you something worth more than the price difference.

Our Marietta gutter cleaning visits include the downspouts proven clear and a note of anything we saw while we were up there.
